DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role focuses on evaluating driver applicants and protecting public safety through careful testing and identity verification. It supports secure and efficient service at Driver License Centers. As a Driver License Examiner, you will perform the following duties:
- Driver Testing: Conduct driving, skills, and knowledge examinations to ensure applicants understand safe driving practices
- Identity Review: Examine identity documents and verify authenticity to prevent fraud and confirm eligibility
- Vehicle Checks: Inspect motor vehicles for proper safety features and determine readiness for testing
- Customer Assistance: Provide information on licensing processes, renewals, transfers, and related services
- Record Processing: Process applications, update records, and issue license products to qualified applicants
- Compliance Duties: Follow all policies including REAL ID regulations, customer service standards, and fee waiver guidelines

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Travel and overtime will be requires as needed
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
Special Requirements:
- All positions require an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
- All positions require no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
- All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
