DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides structured classroom and hands-on instruction in the plumbing trade while supporting facility maintenance needs. The role focuses on teaching safe practices, supervising work crews, and ensuring that all training activities support the smooth operation of the institution. As a Corrections Plumbing Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:
- Trade Instruction: Teach inmates plumbing skills through classroom lessons and supervised on the job work
- Crew Supervision: Oversee inmate work crews completing plumbing repairs, installations, and maintenance tasks
- Training Records: Document inmate progress, attendance, and assignment details throughout the training program
- Tool Control: Issue, track, and inventory tools and materials and conduct searches to maintain secure work areas
- Work Planning: Plan daily work schedules and inspect completed plumbing assignments for accuracy and safety

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
- Five years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, and installation of pipes, fittings, and fixtures used in heating, water, and drainage systems; or
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the plumbing trade; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the plumbing trade.
Other Requirements:
- You must successfully complete basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
