DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position develops, leads, and maintains recreational and wellness programs designed to support inmate growth and constructive use of time. The role involves planning activities, guiding participants, and assisting with the administration of broad program goals. As a Corrections Activities Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
- Program Leadership: Plan and conduct structured activities, sports, and wellness programs for inmate groups
- Instruction and Coaching: Teach skills, explain expectations, and guide inmates through individual and group activities
- Program Evaluation: Review activity participation, assess program effectiveness, and maintain required reports and records
- Facility Oversight: Direct inmates in setting up, maintaining, and organizing recreation areas and equipment
- Resource Management: Monitor inventory, store equipment properly, and request supplies as needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree with major course work in recreation and physical education; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
