THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services, Bureau of Financial Management is looking for self starters who want to make a difference in the area of finance. Become a Budget Analyst 2 with Allegheny County Support Administration and bring your knowledge of numbers to a mission-driven team. This job lets you work with budgets, reports, and funding streams that support essential services. You will help ensure accuracy, consistency, and smart financial planning. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports financial planning and reporting for multiple funding streams within the agency. The role focuses on preparing budgets, reviewing contract entries, and ensuring accurate financial information for program offices. As a Budget Analyst 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Budget Setup: Prepare job setup forms and enter future funding requests into planning systems
  • Report Development: Compile financial data and create reports to present funding status and projections
  • System Entries: Complete cost codes, closeout entries, and reconciliations in JD Edwards
  • Funding Reviews: Evaluate budget revisions, confirm allocations, and resolve discrepancies
  • Contract Oversight: Review and approve contract adjustments and ensure accurate system updates
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze grants, time samples, and monthly or quarterly financial reports

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) hybrid, up to two days per week after 6 months of full-time employment. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience as a Budget Analyst I; or
  • Two years of experience in technical budget administration work, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Allegheny County. If no eligible candidates who live within Allegheny County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
