By joining our Traffic Engineering and Permits Section as a Transportation Engineer I in Jefferson County, you’ll have the opportunity to work with complex engineering components for all aspects of roadway projects, including roadway to design, assessment of impacts to roadway safety, and roadway operations.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must be licensed as a professional engineer by theKentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors OR must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license from the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors within the employee's initial six month probationary period. Engineering decisions recommended by individuals without a Kentucky Professional Engineering License must be approved by a KRS Chapter 322 Licensed Professional Engineer until licensure is obtained. For additional information refer to: http://kyboels.ky.gov/ Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites which requires the following of safety procedures.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.

- Approve engineering documents as a Licensed Professional Engineer
- Make recommendations to consultants concerning the design of transportation facilities
- Interpret and draft professional and technical papers and reports
