The Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet advances education, workforce development, and economic opportunity across the Commonwealth. As one of 10 state agencies in the country to combine library, archival, and public records programs, the department is uniquely positioned to meet these needs.
We are seeking a Property Officer II to perform inventory management duties in the inventory, control, and destruction of property of a state agency and Court of Justice records inventory and to identify and retrieve records containing confidential and legal information.
THIS POSITION IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR TELECOMMUTING.
The duties of this job are performed in a warehouse setting and the candidate is required to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds and/or work in uncomfortable positions such as standing, walking, or kneeling for an extended period of time.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
The Education and Labor Cabinet (ELC) participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the United States. EWDC will only use E-Verify once you have accepted a job offer and completed the Form I-9.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High School Graduate
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of experience in the inventory, control, sales or disposal, or acquisition of property, or a related field.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Review and manage records inventory containing confidential or personal identifiable information, including expunged court records, to accurately and efficiently ship requested items to public agencies or members of the public as appropriate.
- Review and manage records containing confidential or personal identifiable information to accurately efficiently shelve inventory.
- Coordinate the inflow of multiple agencies' records inventory with agency staff.
- Verify that incoming inventory has been approved for transfer by custodial agency and KDLA, matches the transmittal, and has been accurately labeled.
- Has authority to refuse inventory transfers that do not meet standards.
- Account for property by physical inspection, barcoding, and transfer processing control.
- Coordinate the disposition of multiple agencies' records inventory when retention has been met or when inventory has been recalled by custodial agency.
- Verify inventory has been approved for disposition or recall by custodial agency and KDLA and matches the inventory to the authorization.
- Maintain records of inventory locations and disposition.
- Recommend changes in operating procedures.
