Description
The Legislative Research Commission is accepting applications for the position of Project Center Assistant in the Business Office. This position is nonpartisan in nature and requires the ability to work with neutrality in a politically charged environment.
The Legislative Research Commission provides staff support to the Kentucky General Assembly. The agency offers unique opportunities to people seeking fulfilling, challenging, and rewarding careers. LRC staff members provide diverse services and are united by the common purpose of supporting the branch of government closest to the people.
This is a permanent, full-time position with benefits including health and life insurance; retirement plan; and paid holidays, vacation, and sick days. Compensatory time is awarded on an hour-for-hour basis with prior approval.
Job Duties
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: No direct experience is needed. Limited relevant and business experience and business knowledge is required, or equivalent academic training.

Job Duties
- Staff Bill Status Line and the Legislative Message Line.
- Prepare rooms for committee meetings and perform post-meeting cleanup.
- Staff public fax room.
- Process surveys and tour packets.
- Process mass mailings for legislators and agency staff.
- Process legislator mail, track postage accounts, and process monthly statements for members.
- Create and maintain databases.
- Provide telephone coverage for leadership and other offices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to complete large projects, often facing tight deadlines, independently and in concert with others.
- Basic computer skills with knowledge of Windows Office products, or demonstrated ability to learn Windows Office products.
- Strong sense of responsibility and timeliness.
- Willingness to be cross-trained for various tasks, positions, and projects.
- Ability to take direction.
