Description
Kentucky Horse Park is seeking qualified applicants for the position of KHP Gift Shop Manager in the Visitor’s Center.
Located within minutes of downtown Lexington, the Kentucky Horse Park is a 1,224-acre working horse farm, equine theme park, and internationally renowned equine competition facility. Founded in 1978, the Park is owned and operated by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and attracts over 1 million visitors from around the world annually. The Park includes a 260-site campground, the Alltech and Rolex arenas, the International Museum of the Horse, a Smithsonian affiliate, and much more.
The ideal candidate will be a hard worker, have professional office experience, have customer service skills, and work well with a team or on their own.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following
EDUCATION: High School graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of experience managing a retail business.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: College or vocational education with a major in sales, marketing, or a related field will substitute for the required experience on a year-to-year basis.

- Responsible for the overall operation, sales, and administration of the Gift Shop
- Responsible for purchasing merchandise for resale, organizing merchandise displays
- Maintain and manage inventory, including fixed and satellite and temporary locations
- Develop and implement an online gift shop, including posting on website
- Responsible for training staff in operation of point-of-sale system and operation of cash drawers
- Provide backup support to Visitor Center activities and functions
- Ensuring customers are provided with quality service; resolve complaints or issues that arise
- Other duties as assigned
