The Office of the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council Support (OKLECS) under the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet is seeking an Investigator II to join its Testing Services Section based in Lexington, Kentucky. Due to the increase in investigations as a result of violations of Peace Officer Professional Standards (POPS), to be reviewed by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council (KLEC) for possible revocation of certification pursuant to KRS 15.391, the addition of a qualified individual to conduct investigations is critical.
The ideal Investigator II should be energetic, dependable, a self-starter and hard-working. A suitable candidate should have pertinent experience with investigations, documentation and report writing.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have four years experience in the field of investigative law enforcement or a related field of investigation.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience as a sworn law enforcement officer will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 21 years of age. Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Employees in this classification are subject to the provisions of KRS Chapter 15 and 503 KAR 1:140 relating to peace officer certification as administered by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. For additional information please refer to: Kentucky Revised Statutes - Chapter 15 503 Chapter 1 Regulation 140 Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Working Conditions
May work irregular hours due to nature of investigative work. Will be required to travel in the course of investigations. May be exposed to dangerous situations and makes physical arrests. Works in all types of weather.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To The Following
- Investigates and documents violations of POPS.
- Manages investigations and reports.
- Obtain and organize case facts through professionally conducted interviews, document collection, subpoena service, and investigative resources.
- Present facts and testify in committee meetings, hearings and court procedures.
- Assists in conducting and documenting POPS Phase I Testing for law enforcement applicants.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Solid judgement.
- Computer literacy
- Multi-tasking and detail oriented.
- Time management capability.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Frequently communicate in person or by other means of technology.
- Spend a major portion of time using a computer.
- Travel required (state vehicle provided).
