Description
Buckhorn Lake Resort Park is currently seeking a full-time Food Service Operations Manager to operate and supervise all operations of the resort park’s restaurant. This is an amazing opportunity to work in a beautiful natural resort-park setting while managing the food services operations including front- and back- of-house for the restaurant, and events or catering.
The Food Service Operations Manager is a highly skilled team member, providing expertise in the restaurant, kitchen, lounge and catering operations. Express your creativity through made-from-scratch recipes from fresh ingredients, as well as touches of service in the front of the house. As a fluent communicator, duties would include training others and being the vital link of information on the necessities of the park, so it can operate efficiently.
Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park is located near Hazard, KY in Perry County. Surrounded by rolling, tree- covered hills with hiking trails, the lodge overlooks the beautiful 1,200-acre lake. The lodge has 36 rooms and five cottages, offers full amenities, including a restaurant, and is open year-round.
The Food Service Operations Manager I reports directly to the Resort Park Manager.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Train and supervise kitchen and dining room personnel.
- Plan, participate in, implement and manage food product consistency.
- Plan, participate in, implement and manage dining room and kitchen operations.
- Assist in menu development.
- Inventory, purchasing, and budget reporting.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree with courses in food preparation, food management or a related area.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of experience in the operation and management of institutional, military or commercial food service operations.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in one of the above areas will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): If employed in the Kentucky Department of Parks or the Kentucky Horse Park, must be twenty years and one day of age at time of appointment. If employed in the Kentucky Department of Parks or the Kentucky Horse Park, must obtain S.T.A.R. (Server Training in Alcohol Regulations) certification from the Kentucky Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control within six months of appointment. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
