Description
The Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center (EKVC) is looking for a self-motivated, energetic Charge Nurse who possesses the skills, knowledge, and desire to care for Kentucky Veterans using a holistic nursing approach consistent with current standards of nursing practice.
Skills and expectations for this position include but are not limited to:
EKVC is operated by the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs and was built for the sole purpose of taking care of Kentucky Veterans.
Skills and expectations for this position include but are not limited to:
- Provides supervision of nursing department staff during evenings, nights, and weekends
- Provides direct care for residents as needed
- Administers medications and treatments as needed
- Assesses patient conditions
- Plans and provides interventions
- Evaluates the care for residents
- This position, in the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center Nursing Services Department, in Perry County, KY, has an approved Locality Premium of $14.53 in compliance with 101 KAR 2:034 Section 9(1).

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: See Special Requirements.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree in nursing will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be licensed in Kentucky as a registered nurse or possess a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing. https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx http://www.kbn.ky.gov/ Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Working Conditions
Incumbents work with patients, clients, or employees who may have been exposed to infectious diseases which may require the following of safety procedures.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
