Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate Spanish Teacher to inspire young learners in a homeschool enrichment program. Student ages would range from K-5 with a K-1 class, a 2-3 class, and 4-5 class. We meet 1 x per week for 3 hours during the school year. The ideal candidate will demonstrate classroom management skills, an understanding of childhood development, and an ability to adapt curriculum to the needs of a multi-age classroom. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and need little oversight. We need teachers who are not only expert at their craft, but are willing to contribute their thoughts and expertise to a growing program. We do not have grades or tests, but instead use hands-on learning, collaboration, and projects to achieve demonstrated mastery of a subject. The Spanish classes would emphasize oral proficiency over reading/writing skills in these early years.
Duties
- Lead classroom instruction and activities
- Implement and regularly update curriculum plans
- Manage classroom behavior through positive behavior management techniques
- Maintain record of student progress and provide a written progress report to parents at the end of the semester
Requirements
- Experience working with children in early childhood or elementary/middle school settings
- Demonstrated expertise in lesson planning
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with families and colleagues
- Ability to adapt curriculum for a multi-age classroom and students with learning disabilities
- Education degree OR Spanish degree
- Spanish fluency
