As our President, Mercy Hospital, you will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for our facility, driving operational excellence and fostering a culture rooted in our Christian mission. Every day you will collaborate closely with the Market President to define organizational policy and direction, spearhead strategic initiatives, and foster robust relationships with key stakeholders. You will lead comprehensive assessments of business unit executives and staff, optimizing assignments to maximize organizational performance. A significant part of your role will involve championing a "team before self" mentality, fostering transparency, and inviting others into our mission and community health endeavors. You will act as a pivotal change agent, demonstrating boldness, urgency, and unwavering accountability to our community, associates, physicians, and sponsors.

Mercy Hospital is an 90-bed, acute care hospital located in the scenic southwestern Colorado town of Durango. It is the only hospital in Colorado to be rated by Medicare with five stars for overall hospital quality. It is recognized for excellence in orthopedic and spine surgery and for outstanding patient experience and patient safety. Mercy has also received ten consecutive ‘A’ grades for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group. Our providers use state-of-the-art technology in an environment designed to promote wellbeing and healing of body, mind, and spirit. Among the many specialty services available at Mercy are emergency care (Level III trauma designation), surgical care, cardiac care (including interventional), Orthopedic and Spine Centers of Excellence, a Family Birthing Center, home care, hospice care and more. Durango offers an exceptional quality of life with small town charm, excellent schools, and year-round, world-class outdoor recreation opportunities including snow sports, river sports, hiking, biking, camping and more.
Pay Range
$152.13 - $273.83 /hour

Key Responsibilities
- Financial & Operational Oversight: Lead financial planning, budgeting, and performance tracking to achieve facility goals and ensure financial stability.
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans, set patient care standards, and manage market positioning for long-term facility growth.
- Team & Talent Development: Select, develop, and empower senior leadership, cultivate talent, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Physician & Medical Staff Management: Oversee medical staff relations, credentialing, and alignment strategies to ensure clinical quality and patient safety.
- Community & External Relations: Serve as the primary liaison with external entities, building relationships with business, civic, and healthcare leaders to promote the organization's mission.
- Cultural Stewardship: Champion the organizational mission, vision, and values, fostering a positive culture and sense of community within the facility.
Required
- Graduate Degree in health care administration, business, or related field
- Ten years of experience in leadership within a comprehensive acute care setting or hospital organization; prior CEO experience is preferred.
- Experience in successfully integrating services within a large, complex health system.
- Experience in a highly competitive market.
