As a Pharmacy Intern, you’ll work side-by-side with experienced pharmacists, building the skills and confidence needed for your future career—while directly supporting safe, high-quality patient care.
What You’ll Do
- Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, compounding, and distribution
- Utilize pharmacy automation to enhance safety and efficiency
- Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounded products (including IV admixtures)
- Manage medication inventory, including controlled substances and cycle counts
- Support narcotic distribution and maintain accurate perpetual inventories
- Conduct medication storage inspections across clinical areas
- Perform precise pharmaceutical calculations
- Respond to medication-related questions from healthcare teams and patients
- Participate in clinical and administrative pharmacy functions

Your Growth Path
P1 (Foundational Learning):

Required:
- Current enrollment in an accredited College of Pharmacy
- Iowa Pharmacist Intern Registration
