Job Summary and Responsibilities
The Rehabilitation Services Office Coordinator provides administrative clerical support to the Rehabilitation Services Director and the clinical departments of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and Cardiac Rehabilitation in order to facilitate delivery of healthcare services. The Office Coordinator performs office systems functions such as planning, organizing, directing, monitoring, evaluating and modifying all administrative clerical processes of the Rehabilitation Services to include billing for all departments, gathering statistics for bi-weekly and monthly reports for the Director of Rehabilitation Services and Accounting, and inputting daily productivity. Duties further include reception and direction of patients, patient registration, patient scheduling, insurance verification, typing Medi-Cal TAR forms, collection of co-pays, and other necessary duties as assigned.
Incumbents of this position shall present a positive image to the public and take responsibility for identifying, communicating, and generating solutions to problems related to the smooth running of the office. Maintains confidentiality of patient and department information.

Some Essential Functions Include:
Being a role model for exceptional customer service and the Hospital's Patient Satisfaction effort, i.e. demonstrates AIDET principles in all interactions.
Ensures a professional and responsive atmosphere by greeting patients, visitors, staff, and physicians promptly and courteously. Refers to each individual by name when appropriate.
Able to understand and follow all policies, procedures, guidelines, rules and regulations of the Rehabilitation Services Department, Cardiac Rehab Services, Mercy Medical Center Merced, Title XXII, JCAHO and other applicable state and federal laws.
Able to work accurately with frequent interruptions and can accurately perform multiple tasks. Performs duties in a timely and efficient manner and meets deadlines.
Manages the administrative clerical functions of the Rehabilitation Services Department. Performs various receptionist, general office, report generating, and financial duties.
Job Requirements
Minimum:
- High School Graduate and training or experience with word processing, personal computers, general office procedures and proper phone manners.
Previous experience in a medical office, customer service, hospital and/or Outpatient Therapy department required including medical billing.
Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification and billing procedures.
Basic computer knowledge.
Ability to manage multi-line telephone systems.
Professional in attire and attitude with ability to work harmoniously with others.
Preferred:
Bilingual in Spanish-English
College or business school
Knowledge of general Rehab Services clerical procedures required (scheduling, filing, reception), knowledge of general medical terminology, and general Rehab specific diagnoses and conditions
