Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Monitor Tech, you will be responsible for continuous observation and analysis of patients' cardiac rhythms to detect and report changes.
Every day you will meticulously monitor EKG strips, identify arrhythmias, measure intervals, and promptly communicate critical findings to nursing staff and healthcare providers, ensuring accurate documentation.
To be successful, you will demonstrate sharp observational skills, a thorough understanding of cardiac rhythms, and the ability to act quickly and precisely under pressure, crucial for patient safety and timely intervention.
- Must be able to perform the following tasks efficiently: perform/record vital signs, CPR, apply oxygen delivering systems, perform simple wound irrigation/direct pressure/dressings, prepare sterile field for suturing, assist provider with treatment when appropriate, apply restraints, clean medical equipment and prepare for sterilization, collect urine specimens, and phlebotomy
- Reviews patient information to determine usual heart rhythm pattern, current pattern, and prior variances; observes screen of cardiac monitor and listens for alarm to identify abnormal variation in heart rhythm, and records, interprets, and documents rhythm strips every 8 hours and as needed
- Under direction of appropriate directors; responsible for creating and maintaining schedules for Med Surg, ICU, and OB
- Assists in making observations, gathering data, and identifying patient care needs
- Assists with patient transports and transfers
- Answer telephones, filing, greet patients/visitors, transcribe provider’s orders, electronic data entry, and assist with documentation
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or
- High School GED General Studies, upon hire and
- Basic Life Support - CPR, within 30 Days
Preferred
- Telemetry Monitor Tech experience
