Job Summary and Responsibilities
Join our team as a Mental Health Technician and contribute to the well-being of our patients. In this role, you will be an integral part of the healthcare team, providing direct patient care and supportive services under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. This position requires access to keys for the locked unit and patient belongings safe, ensuring the safety and security of our patients and their belongings.
- Assist with patient/family care needs from admission to discharge.
- Monitor patient on Q15 min. observations including (Q5, LOS, and 1:1 obs.)
- Accurately monitor and record patient VS and intake and output, and daily activities, including patio breaks.
- Assist Nurses with patient care to include Groups, Activities of daily living, as needed
- Must be able to effectively communicate with patients in crisis situations and assist RNs with restraining patients
- Assist in maintaining adequate stocks and supplies.
This position is represented by SEIU UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement
Job Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED
- Minimum of one (1) year mental healthworker experience working withpsychiatric patients, either in an inpatient or residential setting
- Basic Life Support - CPR
- Fire Safety, within 90 Days
Preferred
- Minimum 1 year of acute patient care experience
- Certified Nursing Assistant: CA or
- Emergency Medical Technician: CA
