Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Instrument Tech, you will ensure the availability, cleanliness, and functionality of surgical instruments and equipment.Every day you will meticulously clean, sterilize, assemble, and inspect surgical instruments and trays, operating sterilization equipment and maintaining accurate records.To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, a comprehensive understanding of sterilization principles, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment, ensuring all instruments are sterile and ready.
- Follows department and facility Policies, Procedures, and Protocols; internal and external, for infection control by wearing proper attire for assigned area and maintain safe work environment by following universal precautions at all times.
- Using proper techniques at all times processes and decontaminates instruments and equipment.
- Based on department and facility Policies, Procedures, and Protocols; internal and external, inspects, assembles and packages surgical instruments and equipment ensuring items meet end user expectations.
- Performs disinfection and sterilization of instruments and equipment,.
- Validates and documents appropriate parameters based on Policies, Procedures, and Protocols; internal and external.
- Performs routine testing and maintenance on equipment; washing, disinfecting and sterilizing equipment based on Policies, Procedures, and Protocols; internal and external.
Job Requirements
Required:
- Completion of Certified Sterile Processing program and six (6) months experience.
- Certified and Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
- Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Supervisor (CSPDS).
- Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech (CSPDT).
- Cert Sterile Processing Distribution Tech (CSPDT-CBSPD).
- Proficient computer skills such as but not limited to basic Microsoft and keyboarding, demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated knowledge of surgical instruments, assembly, packaging, sterilization, cleaning and decontamination processes and proper safety practices including infection control,body mechanics and hazardous materials.
- Basic knowledge of medical supplies and record keeping.
