About The Role
The EVS Technician plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and high-quality environment in the surgery center. This role supports both environmental cleaning standards and basic perioperative support tasks to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.
This position is ideal for someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical setting.
Responsibilities
Environmental Cleaning & Disinfection
- Perform daily, routine, isolation, and terminal cleaning in clinical and non-clinical areas according to facility standards.
- Clean and disinfect ORs, procedure rooms, pre-op/PACU, restrooms, staff areas, and common spaces.
- Safely mix, use, and store cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer and EPA guidelines.
- Maintain floors including mopping, buffing, refinishing, shampooing, and spot cleaning.
- Replace linens, restock supplies, and maintain overall cleanliness and orderliness of the facility.
Waste Handling & Safety Compliance
- Properly collect, segregate, package, and transport solid waste, recycling, linen, and regulated medical waste.
- Follow all hazardous waste procedures under RCRA, including spill response, container labeling, and correct disposal streams.
- Adhere to facility infection control protocols, safety standards, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all corporate compliance policies.
Operating Room & Clinical Support
- Assist with OR turnover and terminal cleaning between cases to meet scheduling efficiency goals.
- Set up operating rooms per surgeon preference cards, including basic positioning equipment and room layout.
- Ensure proper function and availability of OR tables, equipment, and supplies in coordination with nursing.
- Support OR nurses with safe patient positioning, room preparation, and movement of equipment as directed.
- Assist during intubation/extubation by providing supplies and support as instructed by nursing staff.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in environmental services or a related field
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and supplies
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
