What are the responsibilities and job description for the Growth Marketing Manager position at Commonplace?
About Commonplace
Commonplace is a payments & delivery enabled marketplace for big things like furniture, fitness equipment, golf carts, appliances, saunas, cold plunges. We do what Facebook Marketplace can't: professional pickup, item inspection, delivery, and installation through a nationwide logistics network, with buyer vetting and seller reach up to 1,000 miles.
We're an early-stage team and have been featured in the WSJ, TechCrunch, CNBC, Fast Company, and The Financial Times. We have strong product-market fit and a growing two-sided marketplace with thousands of buyer & seller customers nationwide.
About the Role
We're hiring our first dedicated Growth Marketing Manager to work directly alongside our founding team. You'll own paid acquisition, lifecycle marketing, and conversion optimization across both sides of our marketplace: buyers and sellers.
This is a hands-on role. You will be in Meta Business Suite, Google Ads, Klaviyo, and Google Analytics every day. You own paid and lifecycle channels end-to-end, including the creative generation lifecycle for social, from UGC and influencer partnerships through rapid test-and-iterate cycles.
We're in active experimentation mode. This role is the right fit if you want to come in with a clear thesis & playbook from prior wins, design tests, read results, and decide what's next.
What You'll Own
- Paid acquisition strategy and execution across Meta and Google, hands-on in-platform
- Creator-led advertising on Meta, including sourcing UGC creators and influencer partners, briefing creative, and running test-and-iterate cycles
- Lifecycle and email marketing in Klaviyo: flows, campaigns, segmentation, performance
- Conversion rate optimization recommendations across the funnel, from ad click to purchase
- SEO/AEO strategy as AI-driven search becomes a primary discovery channel
- Performance reporting and experimentation roadmap — hypothesis generation, test design, reading results, deciding what's next
- Cross-channel attribution and budget allocation
What You Bring
- 3-5 years of hands-on growth marketing experience at a consumer product, DTC, or marketplace brand
- A proven playbook for successful paid campaigns across Meta and Google, with specific examples of campaigns you've run, what worked, and why
- Experience with creator-led advertising on Meta — sourcing UGC, briefing creators, managing influencer partnerships, and iterating creative quickly based on performance data
- Direct in-platform experience with Meta Business Suite, Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Merchant Center, and Klaviyo
- Deep fluency using AI tools like Claude for data analysis, experimentation, and workflow automation to drive performance across growth, marketing, and product
- Track record of running experiments end-to-end: hypothesis, test design, analysis
- Strong writing – can hold the brand voice line in emails, ad copy, and landing pages
- Comfort with ambiguity, scrappiness, and ownership
Who You Are
- You want to be hands-on, not just strategize
- You're excited to be a right-hand partner to a founder, not just execute tasks
- You care about outcomes, not vanity metrics
- You're driven by a high-growth, early-stage environment
- You take ownership of the business, not just your scope
- You move fast, test often, and own results
Nice to Have
- Experience at a marketplace or two-sided platform
- AEO and LLM-citation strategy experience
- Background in considered-purchase or high-AOV categories
- Experience auditing and replacing underperforming agency relationships
Compensation and Benefits
- $90,000 - $110,000 base salary equity
- Health and dental insurance
- PTO & generous company holidays
- Ground-floor opportunity at a fast-growing startup & ability to grow with the company
- Onsite in our office, in prime Flatiron, NYC
The offered salary or salary range is based on several factors, including, but not limited to, overall experience, relevant experience, education level, certifications, applicable skills and expertise.
