Position Summary:
The Community Outreach and Enrollment Specialist is the public face of the FL-LIFE project at the Melrose Center in the community. Reporting to the Executive Director / Co-Principal Investigator, the Specialist leads outreach, recruitment events, partner coordination, participant enrollment logistics, and retention support for the study's 50-participant beta cohort — helping rural residents learn about, join, and stay engaged in the program. This is a full-time, grant-funded position through September 30, 2027, with continuation contingent on funding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the MPI (Executive Director / Co-Principal Investigator) in daily project operations: scheduling, meeting and event coordination, correspondence, and day-to-day administrative follow-through. Assist with client management through navigation: maintain each participant's navigation record, coordinate services and referrals across the participant's engagement with the Center, and follow clients through to resolution of identified needs. Execute community outreach and recruitment marketing: distribute IRB-approved materials through CTI channels, health fairs, churches, and social service partners; staff information tables and community events. Maintain and cultivate the partner referral network: orient partners on eligibility and referral procedures, keep the event calendar current, and serve as partners' day-to-day contact. Manage the recruitment interest list: conduct initial pre-screening against eligibility criteria, schedule screening and consent appointments, and track each candidate through the five-step enrollment process. Coordinate participant logistics: session scheduling, reminders, transportation assistance (including Mayo mobile-unit and ride coordination), childcare, and food provisions. Provide participant navigation and debriefing: connect participants to community resources and SDOH support services; document contacts and referrals. Deliver front-line technology support and digital-literacy help so participants can use the FL-LIFE platform successfully. Conduct retention follow-up across the 12-week intervention: attendance outreach, barrier identification, and re-engagement contacts . Enter outreach, referral, and participant-flow data; contribute to monthly implementation reports (RW-03) . Support group sessions, focus groups, and post-intervention survey administration. Represent the project professionally and culturally appropriately with rural, low-income, and diverse community members.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related area (human services, public health, social or behavioral sciences, communications, health administration, or a comparable field) . Experience in community outreach, community health work, case management, enrollment, or a comparable public-facing role. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfort speaking with groups and one-on-one across diverse audiences. Basic computer proficiency (email, spreadsheets, scheduling tools) and accurate data entry. Valid Florida driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel throughout the project counties; availability for evening/weekend events (including first-Friday health fairs). Ability to pass a Level 2 background screening; completion of human-subjects and HIPAA training during onboarding Desired Qualifications Experience in research case management: coordinating clients or participants through screening, enrollment, scheduling, and follow-up Experience in data collection and data management: structured intake and tracking tools, accurate data entry, and record quality checks Community Health Worker (CHW) certification or comparable training Established relationships in the Putnam/Clay County community; experience with churches and social service networks Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus Experience supporting research studies, enrollment programs (e.g., SNAP/WIC, insurance navigation), or health education Compensation and How to Apply $25.00–$32.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications; full-time, grant-funded through September 30, 2027.
