Common Health is seeking a reliable and patient-focused Medical Assistant / Front Desk Representative to join our Sheridan (Hollywood) office. This is a hybrid role supporting clinical care, front office operations, and prior authorization processing. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
What You’ll Do
Front Desk & Patient Services
- Greet and check in patients in a professional, welcoming manner
- Verify patient demographics, insurance eligibility, and benefits
- Collect copayments and outstanding balances per company policy
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments
- Answer phones, manage messages, and assist with patient inquiries
- Scan and upload documents into the EMR
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
Medical Assistant / Clinical Support
- Prepare exam rooms and ensure supplies are stocked and sanitized
- Room patients and document vital signs, chief complaints, and medical history
- Assist providers during examinations and procedures
- Perform clinical duties within scope, including vitals, injections, EKGs, and specimen collection (if trained and authorized)
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the EMR
- Follow OSHA, infection control, and safety protocols
Prior Authorizations
- Identify when prior authorizations are required based on provider orders and insurance guidelines
- Initiate and submit prior authorizations through payer portals and the EMR
- Gather and upload required clinical documentation
- Track authorization status and follow up as needed
- Communicate authorization decisions to providers, staff, and patients
- Properly close authorization requests once completed
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Medical Assistant certification or relevant healthcare experience (preferred)
- Prior experience with prior authorizations (preferred)
- Experience using EMR systems (Athena preferred)
- Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and patient-centered
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time or Part-time opportunities available
- On-site clinic role (not remote)
- Flexibility required based on clinic needs and coverage
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and move throughout the clinic
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- Manual dexterity for clinical and administrative tasks
