Farm Camp Counselors
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Job description:
Farm Camp Counselors support campers in all of their daily needs and play an important role in helping campers participate fully in camp activities—from welcoming them and ensuring they feel comfortable at drop off, to making sure they stay hydrated throughout the day, to supporting and encouraging budding friendships, to helping kids get their things together at the end of the day.
Counselors are assigned to a camper group and work closely with an instructor to support the group throughout the day.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor the safety of campers including sign in/sign out procedures, remaining aware of campers’ locations, assisting campers with safely crossing the farm road, and following safety practices on the farm
- Offer start and end of day activities for campers as they arrive and are picked up from camp, and activities during lunch and transition times
- Ensure that campers’ needs are met, including managing bathroom and water breaks, helping campers with snacks and meals, applying sunscreen and bug repellent, and helping to resolve minor conflicts between campers
- Manage campers’ belongings
- Assist instructors in daily activities, including making sure names are on projects, distributing supplies, and assisting campers in completing projects
- Assist in setup and cleanup responsibilities for both their own group and the camp as a whole (wipe down tables, put away supplies, take out garbage, etc.) as needed and as assigned
- Participate in weekly staff meetings
- One counselor will support our after care program, ensuring that campers who have parents who need to work are cared for until 5:30 pm. This person will have a later start and end to their day.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children
- Organized and energetic individuals who enjoy spending time with children
- Interest or experience in gardening, nature, art, cooking, or outdoor activities is a plus
Schedule:
Camp Dates: June 29 – August 21 (8 weeks)
Orientation: June 22–26
This position is 36–40 hours per week onsite, with the option of additional hours during before and after care.
