About Common Factor
Common Factor is a design and strategy studio based in New York City. We work across brand identity, digital product design, and visual communication—helping organizations think clearly and show up with intention. We're looking for a motivated and curious design intern to join our team and contribute to real projects across two core areas of our practice.
Role Overview
This internship offers hands-on experience in both digital product design (UX/UI) and brand/visual graphic design. You'll work closely with our team on client projects, internal initiatives, and exploratory work—gaining exposure to a full range of design disciplines in a studio environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and iteration of digital product interfaces, including wireframes, prototypes, and UI components
- Support brand identity projects, including logo development, typography systems, and visual guidelines
- Create graphic design assets for print and digital applications (presentations, social media, marketing collateral)
- Participate in design critiques and contribute to brainstorming sessions
- Help prepare and organize design files and documentation
- Conduct research to support projects, including client and industry background, competitive landscape, and trend exploration
What We're Looking For
- Due to visa compliance requirements, this role is open to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents (green card holders) only. This role is not open to other visa types, and we are unable to provide sponsorship.
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate design program (graphic design, interaction design, digital product design, or related field)
- Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Strong foundational design skills with an eye for typography, layout, and visual hierarchy
- Interest in both digital and print/brand design disciplines
- Strong communication skills and ability to give and receive design feedback
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative
- Curiosity and a hands-on approach to experimenting with AI tools as part of the design process
Nice to Have
- Experience with motion design or animation
- Portfolio demonstrating work across both digital and brand/visual design
Details
This is a paid, part-time internship. We are open to in-person or hybrid arrangements for the right candidate. Academic credit is available if required by your institution.
Compensation
$19–20/hour, part-time (approximately 18–20 hours per week)
