Position Summary:
The Cycle Counter is responsible for performing daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods to ensure inventory accuracy in a manufacturing environment. This role works closely with production, warehouse, and inventory teams to identify discrepancies, investigate root causes, and support continuous improvement of inventory control processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular cycle counts according to the schedule and document all results accurately.
- Compare physical inventory to system records (ERP or WMS) and reconcile discrepancies.
- Investigate inventory variances and work with relevant departments to identify root causes.
- Update inventory records in the system after counts are verified.
- Assist with physical inventory counts during quarterly or annual audits.
- Ensure inventory areas are organized and properly labeled for ease of counting.
- Monitor and report on inventory levels, shortages, and excesses.
- Follow established safety and quality procedures in all job functions.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other departments regarding inventory issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy and material flow.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
- 1–2 years of inventory control or cycle counting experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Experience with inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.) preferred.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, ERP/WMS software).
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- May be exposed to varying temperatures, noise levels, and machinery.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
