Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough reviews of property tax assessments to identify overvaluations and opportunities for reductions.
- Perform detailed market research, comparable sales analysis (comps), income approach valuations, and cost approach evaluations.
- Inspect properties (as needed) and gather supporting documentation for appeals.
- Prepare and file formal protest and appeal documentation with appraisal districts.
- Represent clients at informal meetings and formal Appraisal Review Board (ARB) hearings; negotiate settlements with appraisers and district staff.
- Monitor and stay current on Texas property tax laws, exemptions, legislative changes, and local valuation trends.
- Advise clients on available exemptions (homestead, over-65, disabled, etc.), agricultural valuations, and tax deferral programs.
- Manage a portfolio of active cases while maintaining high success rates in tax reductions.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and proactive updates.
- Collaborate with real estate agents, attorneys, appraisers, and other professionals on complex matters.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Texas Certified Property Tax Consultant or Sales Agent License.
- Experience with Personal Property Tax consulting, including preparing renditions, preferred.
- Knowledge of property tax consulting, tax appeals, real estate appraisal, or related field.
- Strong understanding of Texas Property Tax Code, appraisal district procedures, and ARB processes.
- Excellent analytical and research skills with the ability to interpret complex appraisal data, market reports, and financial statements.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting cases before hearings.
- Valid Texas driver’s license and reliable transportation for property visits and hearings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, property tax software, MLS systems, and online research tools.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
