Overview
The Credit Clerk is responsible for supporting the bank’s lending department by performing clerical and administrative duties related to loan processing, credit documentation, and account management. This role ensures that loan applications, approvals, and records comply with bank policies and regulatory requirements, helping maintain efficient operations and strong customer service in a community-focused banking environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and organize loan documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain and update credit files, loan records, and related databases.
- Assist in processing consumer and commercial loan applications, ensuring compliance with bank policies.
- Verify customer information, including credit reports, income statements, and collateral documentation.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding loan status, credit requirements, and documentation.
- Monitor loan portfolio for due dates, renewals, and other administrative needs.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including reporting requirements.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting clients with loan-related questions and documentation.
- Perform general clerical tasks such as filing, scanning, data entry, and maintaining orderly records.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in banking, lending, or credit administration is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with banking regulations and loan documentation preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and banking software systems.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
