We are seeking a highly skilled Union Chiller Technician with strong technical expertise and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our customers. Position OverviewThe Union Chiller Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing central plant equipment with a focus on chillers and hydronic heating/cooling systems. This role requires strong technical knowledge, a high standard of professionalism, and the ability to work independently while supporting both the field and office teams. Principal Duties & ResponsibilitiesDeep comprehension of scroll, reciprocating, centrifugal, and magnetic-bearing chillers.Maintain and repair a wide range of central plant equipment, including chillers, motors, pumps, valves, controls, cooling towers, and supporting systems.Properly diagnose equipment failures and identify root causes.Utilize factory certifications for variable frequency drives (VFDs).Knowledge of open and closed loop water treatment systems.Fully familiar with all aspects of rigging.Support the office team by providing detailed recommended repairs and following them from delivery through completion.Provide emergency on-call service in accordance with the normal rotation schedule.Perform monthly and annual preventative maintenance on hydronic heating and cooling systems.Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed within the scheduled month and allocated time.Maintain positive and professional relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers.Ensure strict compliance with all safety policies and procedures.Work directly with the Account Manager on new and existing customer needs, opportunities, or issues. QualificationsMinimum 5 years of journeyman-level experience and relevant technical schooling.Strong commercial/industrial air conditioning experience.Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical system components and operation.EPA Certification required.Factory-trained on VFDs (preferred).Effective written and verbal communication skills.Trade school completion required.Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
