Are you an organized, proactive leader with a passion for service operations and team development? We're seeking a Service Manager to lead our HVAC and Plumbing Service Department with a strong focus on administrative excellence, daily oversight, and team accountability. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing field service operations, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and to the highest standards. The Service Manager will also be responsible for mentoring service technicians while overseeing daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of Technicians in the field.
  • Daily Job Review: Monitor and review all open and completed service jobs daily to ensure accuracy, profitability, and quality performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all service operations.
  • Labor Hour Oversight: Track and manage labor hours against estimates and budgets. Hold team accountable to projected time and communicate variances.
  • Oversee property maintenance tasks related to HVAC systems.
  • Workflow Optimization: Ensure adherence to our established service workflows and help improve operational efficiency through clear communication and follow-through.
  • Compliance: Review documentation, ensure timecard accuracy, verify parts usage, and confirm all close-out steps are completed prior to billing.
  • Team Leadership: Collaborate with dispatch, purchasing, and accounting to drive results across departments. Mentor technicians to uphold quality standards and foster a solutions-driven culture.
  • Customer Service: Support field techs and office staff in delivering exceptional service and addressing customer concerns when they arise.
  • Manage inventory of tools and equipment necessary for service operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and installations to ensure optimal performance.
  • Technician Feedback & Coaching: Provide consistent and constructive feedback to technicians regarding job performance, completion, customer communication, and documentation.
  • Reporting & Metrics: Generate weekly reports on job status, technician productivity, and service department KPIs.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.

Experience

  • 3 years of experience in a service management, field operations, or dispatch leadership role (HVAC or Plumbing preferred)
  • Proven ability to manage and improve technician performance through regular feedback and accountability
  • Strong administrative skills – attention to detail in timecards, documentation, and job review is essential
  • Working knowledge of service software platforms (BuildOps, ServiceTitan, or similar)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and accuracy
