Position Overview
Schedule: hours may vary based on business needs
Weekend Availability: Must be reliable and available for occasional weekend work or emergency maintenance coverage.

The Handyman ensures that client properties operate smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This role performs routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to keep facilities in top condition. The ideal candidate is hands-on, dependable, and capable of troubleshooting issues before they escalate.

You will work both independently and collaboratively to support facility upkeep, addressing repairs related to lighting, plumbing, HVAC filters, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance across facility systems and equipment.
• Handle minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, and painting repairs.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on lighting, HVAC filters, and mechanical systems.
• Perform snow and ice removal, including sidewalk and stair salt application.
• Support janitorial staff as needed, including maintaining restrooms when required.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and repairs.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Assist with new equipment installations or upgrades.
• Report and document any damage, wear, or safety hazards.
• Collaborate with supervisors and client representatives to ensure efficient operation.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

· Proven experience in cleaning, janitorial services, general maintenance, or building repair preferred.

· Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and proper equipment use.

· Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks, including light repairs, painting, minor plumbing, minor carpentry, and changing light bulbs.

· Prior experience operating cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, scrubbers, and carpet cleaners preferred.

· HVAC, mechanical, equipment installation, or facilities maintenance experience preferred but not required.

· Valid driver’s license required when assigned duties include driving or travel between sites.

· Physical stamina and strength to lift, move, push, pull, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods.

· Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

· Good communication skills, professionalism, reliability, punctuality, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

· Flexibility to work early morning, evening, weekend, emergency, or special project shifts as needed.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Regularly required to bend, kneel, squat, and climb.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
• Frequent exposure to cleaning chemicals, machinery, and moderate noise.
• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
