Building Engineer – Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and dependable Building Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for the overall maintenance, operation, and upkeep of a large high‑rise commercial building. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of five (5) years of building engineering experience in a high‑rise environment, with a strong understanding of building systems, safety practices, and preventive maintenance procedures.
This position requires a strong leader who can take initiative, communicate effectively, and support a collaborative team environment. The Building Engineer must be able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and consistently deliver excellent service to tenants and colleagues.
Building Engineer – Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, and perform preventive maintenance on all building systems and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, and security systems.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and identify potential safety hazards.
- Perform minor repairs and general maintenance tasks as needed.
- Monitor building equipment to ensure proper and efficient operation.
- Prepare and maintain accurate reports, logs, and documentation related to building maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure the building remains in compliance with all safety, health, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and oversee work performed by outside vendors and contractors.
- Provide excellent customer service to tenants and address concerns professionally and promptly.
- Perform any additional duties necessary to support the safe and efficient operation of the building.
Building Engineer – Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical trade school certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of building engineering experience in a high‑rise commercial building is required.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide, support, and collaborate with a team.
- Highly self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and proactively.
- Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS).
- Strong working knowledge of applicable safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a wide range of building systems.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical labor as needed.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer‑service skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.07 per hour
