The Commercial Closer is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and auditing all business loan documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and procedures, thereby minimizing credit and business risks. This role involves inputting loan details into the company’s database, disbursing loan proceeds, and maintaining organized records of executed documents. The Closer collaborates closely with lenders, borrowers, and internal teams to manage the integrity of the loan closing process, coordinate due diligence requirements, and ensure each closing meets approved terms and regulatory standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Loan Closing & Documentation
  • Ensure the integrity of loan closings, including full due diligence, documentation accuracy, loan approval verification, and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Prepare commercial loan documentation packages using LaserPro.
  • Verify loan approval, borrower eligibility, and that required documentation is complete and compliant before closing.
  • Review closing statements and loan packages to ensure all fees are collected and properly documented.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of loan documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulations.
  • Sign off on “clear to close” once all key compliance and documentation elements are verified.
Process & Compliance Management
  • Follow Playbook to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Maintain full process accountability from Approval through and including closing.
  • Manage and audit loan files to ensure compliance with Loan Policy and internal procedures; identify and clear exceptions.
  • Confirm all closing package items are correct, properly executed, and accounted for (including loan proceeds and fees).
  • Make corrections to loan systems, files, and processes as needed and document all actions taken.
  • Maintain accurate loan records and documentation logs using company systems.
Coordination & Communication
  • Collaborate with Lenders, Borrowers, title companies, and internal departments to coordinate loan closings and meet all required deadlines.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with all key parties (Borrower, Seller, Lender, title company, etc.) to confirm availability and readiness for scheduled closings.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings and leadership forums to align with business growth and compliance strategies.
  • Weekly touch base calls with Borrower and Lender.
  • Weekly updates to Monday board detailing appropriate “Who, What, When”.
Customer Service & Support
  • Provide exceptional service to both internal and external customers, including participating in calls, meetings, and correspondence.
  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with Borrowers and Lenders throughout the closing process.
  • Support the company's mission, values, and customer service standards in all aspects of work.
Operational & Miscellaneous
  • Maintain up-to-date logs of scheduled closings using internal systems.
  • Prepare, copy, image, and distribute documents as required.
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned by management based on operational needs.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Strong understanding of lending policies, regulations, and deal structures, including the ability to interpret legal documents.
  • Demonstrates confidence, assertiveness, professionalism, and a high level of dedication and teamwork.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Exceptional time management, communication (verbal and written), and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced and changing work environments, while managing priorities effectively.
  • Skilled in handling large volumes of complex and basic loan data, with at least five years of experience.
  • Minimum two years of banking experience, preferably in loan documentation or loan operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), with working knowledge of LaserPro.
  • Comfortable learning and using new systems to assist with closings and customer communications.
  • Able to work well with diverse personalities and maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • Effectively organizes and communicates information across teams and to customers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
High School Diploma
2 years’ experience working in a business lending department with Commercial Lending background.

PREFERRED
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
2 years’ experience in a customer-facing role.
