Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Support patient care in specialized units such as ICU, emergency medicine, geriatrics, behavioral health, or post-acute care settings
- Administer medications and treatments following strict aseptic techniques and healthcare protocols
- Document patient information meticulously in medical records while maintaining HIPAA compliance to ensure confidentiality
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care tailored to individual needs
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy, and wound care in accordance with established standards
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia care including Alzheimer’s and memory care units, or in long-term care environments like nursing homes or assisted living facilities
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices including aseptic technique
- Ability to perform basic life support (BLS) and handle emergency situations confidently in fast-paced settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers
- Experience with specialized patient populations including pediatrics (PICU), geriatrics, hospice care, or behavioral health is highly valued
- Skilled in using patient handling equipment like Hoyer lifts and working within hospital medicine or outpatient clinics
- Strong caregiving skills combined with excellent communication abilities to support patients’ physical and emotional needs
