Duties
- Provide personalized assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support for residents during the swing shift
- Assist with medication reminders and observe residents for any health changes, reporting findings to nursing staff
- Support residents with meal service, hydration, and nutritional needs, including tube feeding if trained
- Monitor resident safety by conducting regular rounds, ensuring proper use of mobility aids and fall prevention measures
- Document resident interactions, vital signs, medication administration, and care activities accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner
- Engage residents in meaningful activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being, especially those with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
- Collaborate closely with nursing staff to ensure compliance with state healthcare regulations, HIPAA confidentiality standards, and medical documentation protocols
Requirements
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of senior care practices including dementia care, memory care, hospice support, and geriatric physiology
- Certification in CPR and First Aid; additional training in medical terminology or basic life support (BLS) is a plus
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks and heavy lifting safely while maintaining resident dignity and comfort
- Strong communication skills for caregiver interactions and resident engagement
- Must adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain strict confidentiality of patient records
- Willingness to learn new skills related to medication administration and advanced resident care as part of Med Tech training opportunities
