Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team, one day per week and to cover vacations. In this vital role, you will perform blood sampling, specimen collection, and processing procedures while providing exceptional patient care. Your expertise in laboratory techniques and physiology knowledge will ensure accurate test results and a positive patient experience. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to clinical laboratory operations, support patient health, and develop your skills in a fast-paced hospital environment. This position could potentially become part time. There is potential for Mobile blood draw visits throughout the week as well. This will be a 1099 position.
Duties
- Collect blood samples through venipuncture and capillary puncture using aseptic technique to ensure safety and specimen integrity
- Prepare and process specimens accurately for laboratory testing, including labeling, handling, and documentation
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to assist in patient assessment
- Maintain strict adherence to laboratory procedures, medical terminology standards, and safety protocols
- Assist with patient care activities by providing compassionate service, explaining procedures, and ensuring comfort during specimen collection
- Support laboratory operations by organizing samples, maintaining equipment cleanliness, and ensuring proper storage of specimens
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely delivery of specimens and accurate test results
Experience
- Prior laboratory experience or clinical laboratory experience preferred but not required; training will be provided for qualified candidates
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and anatomy is highly desirable
- Experience with phlebotomy, venipuncture, blood sampling, and specimen processing is a plus
- Familiarity with hospital settings or healthcare environments enhances your ability to excel in this role
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and physiology to accurately interpret patient data and procedures
