Job Summary
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) plays a key leadership role in the day-to-day operation of the Comfort Inn & Suites. Working closely with the General Manager, the AGM helps ensure operational excellence, exceptional guest service, team engagement, and financial performance while maintaining full compliance with brand standards, policies, and regulations.
This position requires a hands-on leader who can balance guest satisfaction, staff supervision, and operational efficiency in a fast-paced hotel environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesHotel Operations
- Support the General Manager in overseeing daily hotel operations, including Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Maintenance.
- Ensure all departments consistently meet Comfort Inn & Suites and Choice Hotels brand standards.
- Monitor occupancy, room rates, and basic revenue management practices to support profitability.
- Assist with maintaining property appearance, cleanliness, safety, and preventive maintenance standards.
- Act as Manager on Duty and cover shifts as needed.
Guest Experience
- Handle guest concerns, complaints, and special requests professionally and efficiently.
- Lead guest recovery efforts to ensure a positive guest experience and brand loyalty.
- Monitor guest feedback, reviews, and surveys to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Promote a service-driven culture focused on hospitality and attention to detail.
Team Leadership & Development
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling hotel team members.
- Supervise staff performance, provide coaching, and support corrective action when necessary.
- Help foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and engagement.
- Ensure staff are trained on brand standards, safety procedures, and service expectations.
Financial & Administrative Support
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance tracking.
- Review daily reports including occupancy, revenue, labor, and expenses.
- Support proper cash handling, purchasing orders, billing, inventory control, and cost management procedures.
- Help ensure accurate recordkeeping and compliance with company policies.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health, safety, labor, and licensing regulations.
- Support emergency preparedness, safety training, and incident reporting.
- Uphold guest privacy, security, and brand-required operational standards.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of hotel supervisory or management experience, preferably in a limited-service or select-service hotel.
- Prior Choice Hotels experience is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and online booking platforms.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
