Comfort Heating, Inc. is a small locally-owned business that has been providing residential HVAC to the greater Grand Traverse region for 40 years. With a brand new stocked warehouse, countless loyal customers, and several construction companies we work with, we take pride in hiring experienced candidates to represent our strong workmanship reputation. This position's schedule can be a (4) 10-hour shift schedule, or a (5) 8-hour shift schedule - both with opportunities for overtime - with the understanding that actual end times may vary based on job completion/customer needs. Our dispatch team works hard to be flexible when advance notice is given for important personal commitments.
Qualifications (Open to those who do not meet every bullet point listed)
- 3 years of experience preferred in HVAC Service Preventative Maintenance
- Proficient in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of residential heating, cooling, and ventilation systems (gas furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, mini-splits, A/C, water heaters, humidifiers)
- Skilled in refrigeration cycle diagnostics, superheat/subcool measurements, and airflow calculations
- Proficient with electrical troubleshooting (low & high voltage)
- Some knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and best practices
- Experience with smart thermostats, zoning systems, and indoor air quality products
- Ability to perform system start-ups and performance testing
- Familiar with a variety of brands and equipment types common in residential work
- Coordination with dispatchers, installers, and office staff for efficient scheduling and job completion
- Professional appearance and demeanor representing the company in the field
- Competent in using HVAC diagnostic tools, combustion analyzers, and gauges
- Comfortable using smartphone for work orders, photos, accurate job notes, parts lists, and recommendations for customers
- Available for periodic on-call rotation and occasional overtime
- EPA Certification
- Some installation experience preferred, and the willingness to step into installation projects as seasonal needs shift, to support the team
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, access crawlspaces & attics, use ladders
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Valid driver's license & insurable driving record, must be authorized to work in the U.S.
