Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Hospice Aides to provide essential support to patients and their families during challenging times. As a Hospice Aide, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to individuals in hospice settings, ensuring comfort, dignity, and respect. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams.
Duties
- Provides direct patient care to patient under direction of the RN and according to the Aide Plan of Care.
- Provide necessary skills to assist the patient with safe transfers and ambulation per the Hospice policy.
- Provides necessary skill to appropriately report changes and document pertinent information and care rendered to patient to ensure continuity of care.
- Practices accepted infection control principles. Provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
- Promotes positive, supportive, respectful communication to patient/family and other employees.
- Provides an environment which promotes respect for patient, privacy, and property.
- Provides skills necessary to assist the patient with proper nutrition and adequate fluid intake.
- Contributes to the management and efficient operation of the Hospice and demonstrate effective time management skills.
- Provides skills necessary to perform treatments and procedures according to the Hospice policy.
- Promotes the Hospice philosophy and administrative policies to ensure quality of care.
- Utilize EMR or EHR systems for documentation of patient care activities in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Skills
- Proficient in patient observation and understanding of medical terminology.
- At least one year experience as a Hospice Aide or assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with Hoyer lifts for patient transfers and mobility assistance.
- Knowledge of home health practices and caregiving techniques for individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- CPR certification is a plus; training may be provided for the right candidate.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in various home and community care environments.
- Successful completion of the Aide Competency Evaluation Skills Checklist and written Skills Test.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Per diem
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
