Duties

• Assist orthodontists during various procedures including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with precision and efficiency.
• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines, and ensuring all tools meet infection prevention management standards.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality and safety protocols.
• Manage patient flow by scheduling appointments using patient management software like Dentrix or Epic, updating medical records, and ensuring accurate documentation of medical and dental histories.
• Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal treatment outcomes.
• Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and ensuring compliance with healthcare infection prevention and control standards.
• Support general dentistry procedures when needed, including pediatric dentistry, oral surgery assistance, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other related specialties.

Skills

• Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for efficient patient data management.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to orthodontics and general dentistry.
• Expertise in dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and infection control practices.
• Experience with dental equipment including 3D scanners, dental x-ray units, and other clinical tools essential for orthodontic treatments.
• Skilled in chairside assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry to enhance workflow efficiency.
• Ability to accurately perform vital signs assessments and medical imaging procedures in compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
• Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist or patient care coordinator to ensure positive patient experiences from check-in to checkout.

Pay: $17.50 - $26.00 per hour
