Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks (Activities of Daily Living - ADLs)
- Develop and implement individualized plans focused on improving social, communication, and behavioral skills
- Support clients with behavioral health needs through behavior management techniques and positive reinforcement strategies
- Facilitate communication using tools like American Sign Language when applicable, ensuring effective interaction
- Collect data on client progress to monitor growth and adjust support strategies accordingly
- Provide transportation for appointments, community outings, or errands, ensuring safety and adherence to schedules
- Assist with medication administration following prescribed protocols when necessary
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support
Skills
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders
- Knowledge of special education principles and best practices in behavior management
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a team-oriented approach
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for safe transportation responsibilities
- Experience in home & community care settings or caregiving roles preferred
- Familiarity with data collection methods for tracking client progress
- Background in social work or behavioral health is advantageous
- Ability to assist with childcare duties when needed and handle sensitive situations professionally
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
