Senior Accounting Systems Specialist

Sr. Accounting Systems Specialist - Dallas or Detroit The Sr. Accounting Systems Specialist role will assist the Accounting Systems Manager with the development, implementation, and administration of the organization's core Financial Reporting and SOX systems (Workiva - External and Internal Financial Reporting, ESG and Nonfinancial Reporting, SOX Controls Management) and partner with other team members to assist with the Workday accounting systems as needed (General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Fixed Assets) and related policies, procedures and internal controls. It will be responsible for all aspects of administering security for the Workiva system including provisioning security, overseeing quarterly access reviews, coordinating with IT for system updates and troubleshooting access issues. It will also be responsible for coordination and project management activities on behalf of the Accounting Department on technology-related or other special projects by serving as a liaison and active participant in system implementation or conversion activities impacting the financial ecosystem. Position Responsibilities Accounting Systems Project Coordinator * Key contact for Accounting Department on technology implementation initiatives impacting the financial ecosystem, particularly Financial Reporting and SOX systems. * Effectively lead and manage project priorities to ensure objectives are achieved within the agreed timeframes. * Proactively identify opportunities to create operational efficiencies. * Collaborate with the Accounting and IT Departments to solve existing business problems using information technology or the enhancement of reporting/analytical tools. * Assist with implementation of automating certain processes or using advanced analytics to effectuate more efficient accounting and reporting processes. * Train and support Workiva stakeholders in the use of the Workiva platforms and procedural changes resulting from system updates or implementations. * Assist in resolution of Workiva system-related issues. Audit and Technical Consultant * Assist the Accounting department with updates to Workiva-related procedures and documentation of processes and workflows, including the design and implementation of internal system controls to provide quality assurance over reported data. * Provide oversight and assistance to user acceptance testing performed during system conversion or implementation processes to ensure effective data conversion and maintenance of internal control process. * Meet with internal and external audit regarding control procedures pertaining to system development lifecycle controls or new processes/controls resulting from technology initiatives - assist with the overall maintenance of pertinent evidence substantiating procedures performed. Accounting System Processes and Controls Consultant * Primary security administrator for the Workiva system, including provisioning, deprovisioning, and overseeing the appropriateness of role-based access within Workiva based on employee job responsibilities * Assist with the design and implementation of internal controls (preventative and detective) to provide quality assurance over reported data. * Oversee the testing and development of new reports or other queried data used for accounting and/or financial reporting purposes to ensure completeness and accuracy is maintained. * Evaluate the adequacy of controls for new or modified sources of accounting information, processes and/or system conversions to ensure compliance with SOX. * Assist with the review and maintenance of core Financial Reporting and SOX systems policies and procedures. Team Support * Assist Workiva users as needed. * Provide support to the other team members of the Accounting Systems team as appropriate.
