Mill Operator - 2nd Shift

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Operate machinery to reduce the gauge of metal coils according to customer and manufacturing specifications.
• Load coils into the mill and remove scrap and paper waste from the process.
• Remove finished coils and physically lift and change work rolls as necessary.
• Serve as the data entry clerk to properly label and tag all metal coils for identification.
• Ensure the overall quality of each coil processed through the mill.
• Promote a safety culture by adhering to all plant safety policies and procedures.
• Read work orders and other instructions to determine product specifications and material requirements.
• Set up, operate, and tend to machines that reduce the gauge of metal coils.
• Perform daily checklist tasks and operate machinery to move metal coils.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by removing scrap and other waste, checking machines, and identifying potential hazards.
• Participate in training and certification programs as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Education and Experience: 

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Sufficient ability to maintain records and reports.
• Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

• Working knowledge of measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
• Understanding of production procedures.
• Analytical skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Teamwork and communication skills.
• Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g., constant use of protective gear).
