What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Director, Accountability & Attendance position at Comal ISD?
Primary Purpose:
The director is responsible for researching, compiling, and analyzing data from various sources, developing reports for district and campus staff, modeling data to monitor state and federal accountability measures, and preparing data for presentations. In addition, responsible for the supervision and coordination of attendance across the district.
Education / Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university required.
- 3 years of teaching experience in K-12.
- Master’s Degree in a related field preferred.
Special Knowledge / Skills:
- Strong organizational, communication, public relations and interpersonal skills that promote exceptional customer service.
- Ability to collaborate and maintain positive relationships with CISD staff, other districts, and state agency personnel who are involved with assessment and accountability.
- Knowledge of federal and state special programs law.
- Knowledge of Texas public school law.
- Ability to evaluate program effectiveness/program compliance to maximize academic performance.
- Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data and make recommendations to district staff.
- Experience in the use of databases, spreadsheets, and statistical software packages. Integrity and clarity in all communications and interactions.
- Ability to multi-task and handle diverse high-pressure environments.
- Ability to lead or assist with district functions as related to attendance, assessment and accountability.
- Demonstrated ability to compile data and information for presentations.
Experience / Other Requirements:
- Three years of experience in data analysis.
- Personal cell phone is required to handle district-related business, including after hours, or when away from the office on district business.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Gathers data from various internal and external sources and compiles into a usable format to analyze and present results to district administration.
- Researches, creates, inputs, formats, organizes and edits relevant data as needed or requested and prepares in a usable format for all stakeholders.
- Ensures the highest level of accuracy in preparing data for both internal and external communications and presentations.
- Assists in monitoring district and campus progress in meeting and/or exceeding the standards of the state and federal accountability systems.
- Prepares data for presentations that is easily understood by all stakeholders.
- Compiles and prepares reports for administration or outside agencies as required.
- Assists the District Testing Coordinator in managing the tasks related to both state and local assessments.
- Engages in practices that maximize efficiency of data collection/reporting and integrates the work of multiple projects.
- Cooperates and collaborates with central office staff in areas of overlapping responsibility.
- Assists campus personnel in interpreting and enforcing compulsory attendance laws and resolving truancy, excessive absences and tardiness problems.
- Confers with attendance officers to identify problems of tardiness, attendance and student truancy.
- Interprets and communicates compulsory attendance laws and school policy to administrators.
- Works closely with attendance officers and campus administrators to actively address the district’s dropout and non-completer rates.
- Provides assistance and support as needed to students, teachers, parents, community members, administration and staff of CISD.
- Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with administration.
- Participates in professional development activities as required by the District.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
