Summary:
The Accountant at Colville Fuels LLC is responsible for managing and recording financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, while aligning practices with the company’s objectives. The role includes preparing financial statements, managing accounts payable and receivable, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The accountant also assists with audits and financial reviews, maintains the general ledger, and collaborates with the CFO to streamline financial processes and enhance operational efficiency.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Create and maintain a complete and accurate general ledger.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and operating reports for distribution to management and other company personnel.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage accounts requiring the analysis of accounting transactions and the establishment or maintenance of accounting controls.
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
- Monitor cash and holding accounts to maintain cash balances and reconcile accounts on a daily or periodic basis reflecting activities of the business units.
- Process journal entries and maintain accurate documentation for transactions.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
- Responsible for Accounts Payable duties including inputting all purchase orders, invoices, issuing payments, and keeping complete files. Research accounts payable issues and may respond to vendor calls.
- Ensure all financial accounting policies, procedures, and practices are implemented and followed.
- Responsible for balancing and entering daily cash sheets.
- Perform general accounting functions that include transactions related to cash, receivables, fixed assets, accounts payable, payroll, accrued to prepaid expenses, and the general ledger.
- Reconcile bank accounts to the General Ledger.
- Input large amounts of data entry daily.
- Assist in financial audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
- Perform other duties and special projects assigned to promote the goals and objectives of the corporation.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments to support financial planning and analysis.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience (2 years) in accounting or a related financial role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar professional certification.
- Master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related advanced degree.
- Experience in the fuels, retail, hospitality, or a closely related industry, particularly within a tribal organization.
- Familiarity with tribal governance and financial management practices.
- Demonstrated success in supporting financial reporting and analysis projects.
Physical Requirements:
- Most work is performed in a professional office setting and is sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing less than 40 lbs.
