Position Status: Regular, Part Time

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide tribal preservation monitoring and consultation for environmental projects during archaeological investigations and all ground disturbing activities required for projects. The incumbent is expected to work in accordance with the mission, purpose, and values of the Colusa Indian Community Council.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Record all project activity on daily log which will include detailed information of project site

• (photographs, audio recording, GIS mapping etc.) and archaeologist/osteologist information;

• Research and develop knowledge of Federal/State Gathering laws specific to surrounding counties;
• Work in collaboration with archaeologists and project engineers hired/employed by the

• Contractor;

• Catalog artifacts recovered from archaeological surveys or excavation work and donated collections;
• Develop relationships and be in communication with local land owners and branches of government in the surrounding areas of the Colusa Indian Community Council’s trust land and tribally-owned fee land;
• Maintain knowledge of all Federal, State and tribal regulations relevant to historic preservation;
• Prepare, file and document clear, concise, and accurate records and reports, correspondence, research and field notes;
• Utilize GIS system for reports;
• Meet with Tribal Partners to assess needs and attend functions as requested;
• Attend regular required Department meetings;
• Maintain high confidentiality standards at all times;

• May perform other duties commensurate with the functions and level of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Licensing: Must possess a valid California Driver’s license and be at least 18 years of age

SUPERVISORIAL DUTIES: None

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

• Strong knowledge of Cachil DeHe Wintun Tribe history, culture, traditions or willingness to learn; Must be able to research the history, culture, traditions, language and other activities of the Cachil DeHe Wintun preservation efforts;
• Able to learn Historic Preservation laws that affect historical and culturally valuable sites associated with and defined by the National Historic Preservation Act;
• Familiarity with regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups relevant to historical preservation and cultural resource management.
• Must possess excellent written and oral communication skill
• Excellent PC, MS Office and research skill
• Must have excellent time management skills and proven ability to be able to work with minimal supervisi
• Able and willing to travel.
