What are the responsibilities and job description for the Asset Manager position at Columbus Water Works?

Responsible for establishing an asset management culture by developing, implementing, and sustaining a system-wide program. This position will develop performance indicators and metrics to continuously assess and analyze assets within the Columbus Water Works (CWW) system. Will advise and guide the means and methods for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on data that will impact recommendations and judgement decisions impacting planning and execution of Columbus Water Works (CWW) Capital Improvements Plan (CIP), annual capital replacement, and other efforts related to the CWW purpose and vision. Work is reviewed for accuracy, results, professionalism and consistency with policy and department goals through reports and conference.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field and two years of related experience. Completion of a Master’s Degree in a related field can be utilized in lieu of experience. All degrees must be obtained from an accredited institution.


  • Must possess ability to make sound technical judgments, perform complex calculations, and develop and manage schedules.


  • Must have good communication skills, oral and written; ability to work effectively with people and maintain a professional attitude. Must be able to serve internal and external customers in accordance with CWW values.


  • Strong technical credibility, strong oral, and written communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and communicate Asset Management Program Standards and business plan to manage assets.
  • Establish and facilitate governance committee to identify company needs and objectives,
  • Periodically audit program data to ensure compliance with data standards and data management requirements,
  • Support operations and maintenance departments in defining and appropriate preventive maintenance approach for all assets,
  • Report and communicate asset usage, financial performance, and risk assessment to determine opportunities for asset replacement,
  • Prepare, prioritize, and communicate recommendations for asset replacement,
  • Support in development of Master Plan, Capital Improvements Plan, and Capacity, Management, and Maintenance (CMOM) program,
  • Identify, create, and deliver training opportunities for new and existing staff,
  • Expected to spend necessary time in the field in order to monitor and ensure quality of deliverables,
  • May be required to work after hours, weekends, or holiday,
  • Must comply with all company safety standards and requirements,
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, handle, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, and effectively communicate. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally climb up to 25-30 feet. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
