Job Summary:
The Audio-Visual Assistant Manager supports the Audio-Visual Technical Manager in coordinating and delivering audio-visual services for institutional programs, special events, and external facility rentals. This role assists in supervising AV staff, coordinating event production logistics, and maintaining departmental equipment and systems. The Assistant Manager works closely with internal departments, clients, and event staff to ensure the professional execution of AV services and serves as the on-site operational lead for AV staff during events or in the absence of the Audio-Visual Technical Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Audio-Visual Technical Manager in supervising the AV Lead Technician and contingent AV staff.
- Serve as the on-site operational lead for AV staff during events and in the absence of the Audio-Visual Manager.
- Coordinate the setup, operation, and strike of audio-visual equipment for institutional programs, events, and rentals.
- Collaborate with internal departments, event staff, and clients to ensure successful event execution.
- Schedule hourly AV staff and coordinate equipment needs for upcoming events.
- Support the technical advancement and preparation of small to medium-scale productions.
- Maintain the organization, inventory, and routine maintenance of departmental AV equipment and systems.
- Prepare and distribute relevant event documentation, including floor plans and Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), to AV staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in live event production or related field.
- Minimum four years of experience in live events and/or production environments.
- Experience supervising or coordinating small production teams.
- Demonstrated experience advancing and executing small to medium-scale productions.
- Primary expertise in live audio reinforcement with working knowledge of video systems and production computers.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules, event requirements, and production environments. Evenings and weekends will be required.
Uniform Requirements: Business casual attire in neutral colors with closed-toe shoes is required. All-black attire may be required for formal events. Clothing should be comfortable and appropriate for an active technical work environment.
Physical Demands: This position requires standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing. Duties may include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching overhead using ladders or lifts. The ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds using proper equipment and techniques is required.
