Responsibilities
- Provide attentive pet care, including feeding, grooming, exercise, and enrichment activities to promote animal health and happiness
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and diagnostic procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff
- Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with medication administration, sample collection, and basic laboratory tasks
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of animal enclosures, treatment areas, and equipment following aseptic techniques
- Handle animals safely during intake, transfers, or procedures, demonstrating knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy
- Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and communicating effectively with pet owners
- Assist with specialized tasks such as animal catheterization or other veterinary procedures requiring technical skill and knowledge of veterinary terminology
Qualifications
- Prior kennel experience or hands-on animal husbandry background preferred
- Experience working with animals in a veterinary clinic or shelter setting is highly desirable
- Knowledge of animal handling techniques across various species including dogs and equines
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology, critical care practices, and laboratory procedures beneficial
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting animals or equipment safely and efficiently
- Strong communication skills for interacting with team members and pet owners professionally
