Position Title: Lead Human Resources Generalist
Location: Columbus Hydraulics - Columbus, Nebraska

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead HR Generalist serves as the senior operational partner within the Human Resources department, overseeing daily HR functions while supporting strategic initiatives. This role provides expertise in employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, benefits administration, compliance, employee engagement, and HR policy implementation. The Lead HR Generalist acts as a trusted advisor to managers and employees while mentoring HR team members and driving HR initiatives that support business objectives
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee Relations & HR Advisory
- Serve as the primary HR resource for managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and employment-related matters.
- Investigate and resolve employee relations issues, complaints, and workplace conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide guidance on performance management, disciplinary actions, coaching, and corrective action plans.
- Promote a positive workplace culture through employee engagement and retention initiatives.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Partner with managers to identify staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies.
- Manage full-cycle recruiting activities including sourcing, interviewing, selection, and onboarding.
- Ensure a seamless onboarding experience for new employees.
- Support workforce planning and succession planning initiatives.
Performance Management & Employee Development
- Lead performance review processes and support managers in goal setting and employee development planning.
- Identify training needs and coordinate learning and development programs.
- Coach managers on leadership development and employee performance improvement.
HR Compliance & Policy Administration
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain and update HR policies, employee handbooks, and standard operating procedures.
- Support audits, reporting requirements, and HR recordkeeping practices.
- Monitor HR trends and recommend policy improvements
Compensation & Benefits
- Assist with compensation analysis, salary benchmarking, and annual merit review processes.
- Support benefits administration and employee benefit communications.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure effective benefits delivery.
- Oversee FMLA, disability, workers’ compensation, and other leave programs.
- Coordinate with insurance carriers and third-party administrators as needed.
HR Operations & Systems
- Maintain HRIS data integrity and generate HR metrics and reports.
- Analyze workforce data and provide recommendations to leadership.
- Lead or participate in HR projects focused on process improvement and organizational effectiveness.
MARGINAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Team Support
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to HR Coordinators, HR Specialists, and junior HR Generalists.
- Lead HR initiatives and cross-functional projects.
- Act as a backup for HR leadership when needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field required.
- Master's degree preferred.
Experience
- 5–8 years of progressive human resources experience.
- Experience handling employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and compliance matters.
- Previous experience leading projects or mentoring HR team members preferred.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Professional HR certification preferred (e.g., SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or HRCI PHR/SPHR).
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Fluent in Spanish and English required
