The Utica City School District is accepting applications for
Intramural Coaches
Level: Elementary Intramural (Grades 4-6)
Sport: Basketball
Tentatively March - June 11, 2026
Schedule: 2 days per week, 2 hours each session
Coach: $40 per hour
The Utica City School District is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Intramural Basketball Coaches for its Spring 2026 program at each of its ten (10) elementary schools. Coaches will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading basketball practices and games for students in a safe, support and fun environment. This position is deal for individuals passionate about youth development, sportsmanship and basketball fundamentals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and supervise basketball practices and intramural games for students.
- Teach fundamental basketball skills, rules and strategies appropriate to age and skill level.
- Foster teamwork, sportsmanship and positive attitudes among participants.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at all times.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents and school staff regarding schedules and program expectations.
- Maintain equipment and ensure facilities are used responsibly.
- Uphold and enforce all district policies and program guidelines.
Qualifications:
N.Y.S. Certification as a Teacher AND
- First Aid
- CPR
- Concussion Management Course
- CDC HEADS UP(link is external)
- NFHS Concussion in Sports(link is external)
- Coaching Coursework
OR
NYS Certified Coach: (Must apply for the certification through TEACH)
